Quick Guide

This page covers the essentials for your first session.

campusGenAI uses your institution’s Single Sign-On (SSO). Navigate to your institution’s campusGenAI URL and sign in with your normal institutional credentials — the same username and password you use for other campus systems.

If you’re on the campusLaunch deployment as part of the AI Enablement Program, log in at hub.campusgenai.org. If you’re at an institution with its own deployment, your IT department or AI lead will have shared the URL. If you’re not sure who that is, contact us.

After logging in you’ll see the chat interface. The main areas:

  • Model selector: Top of the screen, lets you choose which AI model to use
  • Chat input: Bottom of the screen, where you type your messages
  • Sidebar: Left side, shows your conversation history and the Agents section

Click the chat input at the bottom, type a message, and press Enter. The AI responds in real time.

Start with something from your actual work — a document to summarize, a draft to review, a question you’ve been meaning to research. The platform is most useful when you bring real tasks to it.

campusGenAI gives you access to multiple AI models — GPT, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, and others depending on your deployment. To switch:

  1. Click the model selector at the top of the chat
  2. Choose a model from the list
  3. Your next message uses the selected model

Different models have different strengths. See Model Comparison for details on when to use each one.

Click New Chat in the sidebar (or the pencil icon, depending on your deployment). Each conversation starts fresh — the AI doesn’t carry context between separate conversations.

Your past conversations are saved in the sidebar and you can return to any of them at any time.

Your interface may look slightly different depending on your institution’s deployment.
